The PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scheme is for individuals carrying out regulated work with children and/or protected adults.
Regulated work is usually jobs including: caring responsibilities; teaching or supervising children and/or protected adults; providing personal services to children and/or protected adults; working directly with children and/or protected adults; There are many kinds of roles, both paid or unpaid.

A PVG certificate contains all unspent and certain spent conviction information. It also contains any other non-conviction information that the police or other government bodies think is relevant.
Disclosure Scotland continually monitor PVG scheme members' records for vetting information, including criminal convictions that may affect their suitability to work with vulnerable groups.

There are two types of PVG checks available to request:
PVG Scheme (Registration)—Individuals registering with the PVG Scheme for the first time or existing PVG members working with a new vulnerable group.
PVG Scheme (Update)—Existing PVG members working with the same vulnerable group but need to add an organisation to their membership.

Once the order is placed on the Verifile client portal, you will need to provide a UK PVG Scheme Registration & Update form which is included below.
When Verifile has submitted the PVG request to Disclosure Scotland, the candidate will be contacted to complete an online PVG application form. This must be completed within 14 calendar days.
